Enabling action: Re-envisaging education of health professionals in Aotearoa New Zealand

Healthcare in Aotearoa New Zealand is changing with the aim of becoming truly universal. Development a new curriculum model education health professionals can aid this goal through increased focus on community needs and flexibility for multiple professional registrations. Universal healthcare disability support are promoted as defining feature Zealand, yet inequities blatantly evident, increasing calls equity. Complexity issue multitude stakeholders favour action research founded Vision Matāuranga, problem-solving philosophy which embraces potential innovation Māori – people, knowledge resources. Action collaboration to identify implement solutions. Government ministries determine policy, Responsible Authorities accrediting educational institutions, turn provide programs. Changing what how students learn increase their understanding equity when they become practitioners, voice service users being paramount.
